L’idea che svilupperemo nei prossimi giorni si ispira a una forma nota a tutti noi. Sin dal XII secolo l’uso di questo oggetto è diventato quotidiano e quasi scontato.
LA FORCHETTA, con il suo design semplice e funzionale può essere a nostro parere soggetta a speculazioni per migliorarne efficacia e utilità.
Nel nostro studio non possiamo prescindere dalla storia della tavola e di come l’uomo interagisse con essa. Un tempo le mani erano ciò che di più naturale avevamo per portare il cibo alla bocca, ma nella convivialità del pasto fece la sua comparsa il primo utensile, il cucchiaio, conseguenza anche di un’attenzione maggiore verso l’igiene a causa del diffondersi di epidemie. Il cucchiaio però con la sua panciuta forma era privo della facoltà di infilzare e trattenere il boccone e fu a questo punto che si sentì la necessità di un nuovo oggetto da tavola, un oggetto snello e appuntito e versatile nello svolgere questi compiti.

Con questa sfida, ci sentiamo stimolati a dare il nostro contributo all’evoluzione di un oggetto di uso comune che ha davanti a se un futuro ancora assai lungo!

The idea we are going to develop in the next few days is inspired by a shape known by all of us. Since the XII century this object is of daily use and nearly given for granted.
THE FORK.
We think its simple and functional design can undergo speculations to improve its efficacy and usefulness.
In our project we can’t disregard the history of kitchen-table and how man-kind interacts with it. There was a time when the hands were the most natural way to bring food to the mouth, but in the conviviality of meals made its appearance the first utensil, the spoon, consequence of a higher care to hygiene caused by the spreading of epidemic diseases. Although the spoon, with its pot-bellied shape, was devoid of the faculty of spear and hold the food. This is why there was the need of a new tool on the kitchen-table, a thin and spiky object versatile on performing these duties.
THE FORK
With this challenge, we feel stimulated to contribute on the evolution of an everyday object which has in front of it a very long future on the side of humans!
